Balthus, Balthazar Klossowski, detto Balthus, nasce il 29
febbraio 1908 a Parigi, è il secondo figlio di Erich Klossowski
(1875-1946) pittore e storico dell'arte, ed Elizabeth Dorothea Spiro
(1886-1969), nota come Baladine.
Suo fratello maggiore è lo scrittore e
fumettista Pierre Klossowski (1905-2001).
Pittore francese di origine polacca. Si colloca, per le misteriose connotazioni
erotiche e oniriche che animano i suoi «interni», tra il surrealismo e certo
realismo magico di tradizione tedesca. Numerosi sono anche i suoi inquietanti
paesaggi, sia urbani sia agresti. Nel 2001 Balthus termina l'ultimo quadro
intitolato L'attesa e muore in Svizzera il 18 febbraio. Nel 2001-2002 a Palazzo
Grassi di Venezia è stata allestita una grande retrospettiva. |

Balthus, Balthazar Klossowski, said Balthus, born Febrary, 29, 1908 in
Paris, is the second son of Erich Klossowski (1875-1946) painter and art
historian, and Elizabeth Dorothea Spiro (1886-1969), known as Baladine.
His
elder brother is the writer and cartoonist Pierre Klossowski (1905-2001).
French painter of polish origin. It is set for the mysterious and
dreamlike erotic connotations that animate his "internal" between certain
surrealism and magic realism of German tradition. Many are also its disturbing
landscapes, both urban and rural.
In 2001 Balthus ending the last picture titled "The Waiting" and died in
Switzerland on 18 February. In 2001-2002 at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice has
been staged a major retrospective. |
