Bacon Francis, pittore inglese d'origine irlandese (1909-1992).
Maggiore pittore inglese contemporaneo, autodidatta, tra le sue opere le
rielaborazioni dell'Innocenzo X di Velázquez e degli autoritratti di Van Gogh.
Nei primi anni Sessanta, venne considerato tra i capiscuola della Nuova
figurazione. Nel 1945 espone i suoi tre studi per le figure alla base di una
Crocifissione alla galleria Tate ed alla galleria di Lefevre a Londra.
Il suo lavoro è fondamentalmente Espressionista nello stile ma le sue forme
umane distorte e dai colori esasperati sono sconvolgenti. l'artista comunque
svilupperà con qualità, questo stile angoscioso e pessimista.

Bacon Francis, English painter of Irish origin (1909-1992). Greater
contemporary English painter, self-taught, between its works the reworks of the
Innocenzo X di Velázquez and selfs-portrait of Van Gogh. In first years Sixty,
he came considered between the founders of the New figuration.
In 1945 exhibits its three studies for figures at the base of a Crucifixion to
the Tate Gallery and the Lefevre Gallery in London.
His work is basically Espressionista in style but his distorted human forms and
colors are shocking exasperated. However, the artist will develop with quality,
this style anguished and pessimistic. |
