ASGER JORN Asger Oluf Jørgensen, che modificò successivamente il

Nell?autunno del 1936 visita Parigi, dove studia all?Académie Contemporaine di

e collaborando alla rivista ?Helhesten?.
Nell?estate del 1946 compie un viaggio nella Lapponia svedese; nell?autunno
dello stesso anno è a Parigi, dove conosce Constant e nel 1947-48 risiede per
sei mesi a Djerba (Tunisia). Nel 1948 tiene la prima personale a Parigi alla
Galerie Breteau. Nello stesso periodo, assieme a Karel Appel, Constant,
Corneille, Christian Dotremont e Joseph Noiret fonda il gruppo CoBrA (acronimo
per Copenaghen, Bruxelles, Amsterdam) che rivendica completa libertà espressiva
ed enfatizza l?importanza del colore e della pennellata. Prima di dissociarsi
dal movimento, Jorn redige la pubblicazione delle monografie della Bibliothèque
CoBrA.
Nel 1951 ritorna in Danimarca, dove le precarie condizioni di salute lo
costringono a trascorrere un lungo periodo nel sanatorio di Silkeborg. Nel 1953
è tra i fondatori del Movimento internazionale per un Bauhaus immaginista, una
continuazione del gruppo CoBrA, e comincia a lavorare intensamente con la
ceramica, stabilendosi l?anno seguente ad Albisola, in Italia, dove promuove gli
incontri internazionali della ceramica. I lavori di Jorn comprendono quadri,
collage, illustrazioni di libri, stampe, disegni, ceramiche, arazzi, nonché

Asger Jorn Asger Oluf Jørgensen, which later changed its name in Jorn,
